Penhydd

Red · 19km

Afan's flagship trail. 19km of purpose-built singletrack with flowing berms, technical rock features, and relentless climbs through the forest.

The Wall

Red · 23km

The longest and most demanding trail at Afan. 23km of varied terrain that tests fitness and skill in equal measure. A true South Wales classic.

White's Level

Blue · 14km

Flowing singletrack for intermediate riders. 14km of well-built trail that is the perfect introduction to Afan riding.

Y Wal

Black · 12km

Technical black-graded trail with steep drops, exposed rock sections, and challenging features. For experienced riders only.

Afan Argoed has excellent facilities at both the Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre, including cafés, bike wash stations, showers, and car parking.

Getting Here

How to Get to Afan Argoed

  • From Gethin MTB (~45 mins)

    Take the A465 Heads of the Valleys road west, then the A4107 south into the Afan Valley. We can deliver bikes so you do not need to visit our base first.

  • From the M4 Corridor

    Exit the M4 at Junction 40 (Port Talbot) and follow the A4107 north into the valley. The Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre is well signposted from here, approximately 15 minutes from the motorway.

  • Parking

    Free parking is available at the Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre (SA13 3HG) for Penhydd and White’s Level. For The Wall, head to Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Centre (SA13 3EA) further up the valley.

If you're a confident mountain biker, start with Penhydd - it's Afan's flagship trail and gives you a fantastic taste of what the valley has to offer. For intermediate riders or first-timers at Afan, White's Level is the ideal introduction with flowing singletrack throughout.

Most riders tackle one main trail per day as the routes are 14-23km each with significant climbing. If you're fit and fast, you could combine White's Level with Penhydd, but most people prefer to savour a single trail and enjoy the café afterwards.
